Alissa Roach (b. Kingston, Jamaica) is a writer and artist based in Brooklyn, New York. Through text, video, painting and spoken word she explores ideas of ‘home’ from a migrant perspective – reminders of home, missing home, what it means to build a home, what it means to leave, and what it means to return. Her writing often interrogates institutions and lingers within artists’ gestures; her articles and essays have been featured in The Philadelphia Plain Dealer, Parentheses Review and sx salon (upcoming, June). She holds an MA in Writing from the Royal College of Art in London, and a BFA in Sculpture from the Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia.
